Search for the elusive Cambodian Laughingthrush on Aural Mountain. WARNING- tough birding not for the faint of heart.
 Explore Aural Mountain in search for one of Cambodia's true endemic species, Cambodian Laughingthrush. The 4 day trip will include an accent of Cambodia's highest peak (1813m elevation) in thick evergreen forest. This is as far off the beaten track that is possible in Cambodia as you will be sleeping in hammocks in make-shift forest camps and eating simple food. Therefore, this tour is not for the faint of heart and we recommend you be in good physical condition. If you accept the challenge, this is one of our most rewarding birding trips in Cambodia that you won't forget in a hurry.

        Evergreen and broad leaves evergreen forests.

        Bird Species:

        Aural Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary:

        Chestnut-headed Partridge, Great and Wreathed Hornbills, Cambodian Laughingthrush, White-tailed Robin, Blue Pitta, Silver Pheasant, Green Cochoa, Large Niltava, Mountain Fulvetta, Mountain Bulbul, Mountain Scops-owl, Little Pied and Snowy-browed Flycatchers, Silver-breasted and Long-tailed Broadbills, Dollarbird and some other high elevation bird species.

        Mammals: Pileated Gibbon, Northern Pig-tailed and Red Muntjac.

        Other species outside Aural:

        Large Cuckooshrike, Small and Scarlet Minivets, Green Peafowl if we are lucky, Chestnut-capped Babbler, Rufescent; Grey-breasted and Brown Prinias, Golden-crested and Common Hill Mynas, Indochinese Cuckooshrike and some Woodpeckers species- but we are not really do birding in this part, we only pass through their habitat.

          - Sun hat.

          - Sun cream.

          - Appropriate closed-toe shoes. Walking boots are best.

          - Light clothing covering shoulders and knees- this is especially relevant when visiting temples and religious sites. Clothing should not be bright when birding.

          - Insect repellent.

          - Waterproof coat.

          - Small denominations of money. This is especially relevant when entering Northern Cambodia. $20 is the maximum denomination of money that should be taken.

          - Binoculars. SVC charge $5 per person per day to use our Swarovski Optik binoculars.

          - Ear plugs are recommended for multi-day tours. The sound of nature at night in remote areas can be loud.
