Giant Ibis Birding Tour: 3 Days, 2 Nights
Northern Plains Giant Ibis Birding Tour (3 Days / 2 Nights)
Embark on an unforgettable 3-day, 2-night birding adventure into the heart of Cambodia's Northern Plains, one of the last strongholds for some of the world's rarest bird species.
Departing from Siem Reap, journey to Kriel Lodge in Preah Vihear Province, a comfortable base surrounded by prime birdwatching habitat. Over three days, you'll explore seasonal wetlands, dry deciduous forests, and grasslands in search of Cambodia's national bird, the Critically Endangered Giant Ibis, as well as the equally rare White-shouldered Ibis.
This tour offers exceptional opportunities to observe a wide variety of Northern Plains specialties, including vultures, woodpeckers, rollers, barbets, raptors, and other unique dry-forest species. Between December and April, sightings of both ibis species are highly reliable, with our tours achieving a success rate of over 95%.
For birders seeking an even more complete Northern Plains experience, an optional extension can be arranged to visit the Bengal Florican Grasslands, home to one of the world's most endangered bustard species.
Whether you are a dedicated birder, wildlife photographer, or nature enthusiast, this tour provides a rare opportunity to witness globally threatened species while directly supporting community-based conservation efforts in Cambodia's Northern Plains.
Short on time? We also offer a 2-day, 1-night version of this tour.
